Beretta Compact Pistols - A few months ago, I decided to take something different from what I shoot now. I picked up a Beretta APX Compact at my local gun store. When I first picked it up and put the gun in my hand, I immediately noticed how rough the grip check was on the gun, which is not bad for me. I think this is a great alternative to a suppressor, and with three adjustable grips, the gun can fit many types of hands. The grip is somewhere between a Glock 19 and a Glock 26. The APX Compact is large enough to fit all of my fingers in the grip, which is a plus for maneuverability. The compact version holds 13 rounds in a flush magazine and is a solid pistol.

APX is quite thick in width as it is, but it supports slide loading and manipulation. My APX has a dry trigger with a defined wall that felt good for the factory trigger. I couldn't find a night vision model in stock so I bought a basic three dot setup which works fine. Combat style sights are easy to pick up and work well for quick transitions.

One thing that really surprised me was the mag release pressure. The magazine flies out of the gun when you shoot the release. I've been surprised more than once how hard the magazine pulls out of the gun, but it's important when you get used. The overall ergonomics of the pistol felt good and reminded me of the full size APX. In the hand, the gun felt solid and the stock made the gun feel anchored in the hand.

Disassembling the APX is very easy and breaks down like most polymer pistols with a disassembly lever. I cleaned the gun before hitting the range, but I didn't throw a ton of lube on the slide because I wanted to see how it would perform. I spent about an hour pulling and getting used to the gun after cleaning it, I was pleased with how predictable the trigger was after a little practice.

When it comes to weapon lights, the APX Compact has a Picatinny rail for accessories, but it's a small space that doesn't have enough room to attach a Surefire X300 Ultra or Streamlight HL. There's still plenty of room for a Mini Laser or Inforce APLc though, so go there. The square trigger guard reminds me of the trigger guard on the M9A2 for some reason, but it does not affect the shooting or handling. I shot this earlier and when it was cold and the guard was big enough to shoot gloves. Wearing gloves can sometimes be a challenge when shooting in the colder months, but the APX Compact was very pleasant to shoot with gloves on.

When it comes to shooting the APX Compact, the gun is very controllable and quite comfortable for the size of the gun. It has a soft grip that makes it easy to pick up and shoot. This control is more possible due to its larger dimensions than a gun with the same capacity but a smaller package. The SIG Sauer P365, for example, has a fast recoil, which can quickly become noticeable if you are running high-pressure self-defense rounds. The P365 may be a handful with some shooters, but it's much smaller. The APX is a bigger gun. but it's much smoother to shoot when it comes to recoil.

On my first trip, I put about 1,800-1,850 rounds through the APX compact, and overall I thought it was a very good gun to shoot. I didn't have any surprising reactions where I liked the gun. It was a great experience, and since it shoots so easily, I found myself enjoying the gun at the end of the day. The aggressive front dot didn't tear my hand, but it held the gun where I wanted it and I liked how the overall grip worked when I was shooting it.

I plan to shoot more guns and will update you with my thoughts in a few months. So far I'm enjoying the APX Compact and I think it fits the niche in the market between the Glock 19 and the Glock 26. I'd put it in the same category as H&K's VP9SK or P30SK where it's compact but not small. pistol. . I'm impressed with how comfortable the grip is and how close it feels to a full-size APX extension. I plan to continue my trial of APX Compact and report how it goes. Let me know what you think about the Beretta APX Compact in the comments below.
